Tile Calculator — Square Feet, Boxes & Layout
Enter the surface and tile size to see how many tiles and boxes you need. Optionally refine waste, layout, grout, and material cost.
Measure the tiled surface
Exact dimensions calculate rows, columns, and edge cuts instead of estimating from area alone.
Tile and layout
Enter the tile dimensions. Open layout details only if you need to refine joints, pattern, or orientation.

How the tile estimate is calculated
Tile calculator for floors and walls
Use exact surface dimensions to calculate rows, columns, edge cuts, and a visual layout. For multiple walls or irregular projects, total the measured square footage and use Known area mode.
Tile layout and waste allowance
Straight layouts commonly use about 10% waste, staggered patterns about 12%, and diagonal patterns about 15%. Add more for complex rooms, many corners, fragile tile, or a pattern that must align.
Boxes and tile material cost
Enter tiles per box and the box price. The calculator rounds up to whole boxes, then shows purchased coverage, spare tiles, and material cost. Labor, adhesive, trim, membrane, and tax are not included.
Grout calculator estimate
The grout estimate uses tile size, joint width, thickness, and tiled area with a typical cured grout density. Product yield varies, so use the grout manufacturer’s coverage chart before purchasing.
