Reserve & calculation details

Extra yarn reserve %Applied to known motif, join and border amounts.

Body width = columns × motif width + (columns − 1) × join width. Height works the same way. Finished size adds the border twice. Seam paths span the assembled body: (columns − 1) × body height + (rows − 1) × body width.

For each colour: sum measured motif amounts from the actual map, add measured joining and entered border allowances, apply reserve, subtract available grams, then round a positive shortfall up to whole balls. “Left after known reserved use” includes stash and purchase surplus; incomplete inputs can make it too high.

Uniform rectangular motifs only; no hexagons, shaped edges or mixed sizes. These are physical yarn estimates, not a pattern instruction or guaranteed consumption. Sample joins, tails, blocking and tension matter. Limits: 100 rows/columns, 2,500 motifs, 8 recipes and 8 colours.
